27th Quilt

Another quilt out of order, I started this quilt this time last year and never got it finished until I decided to enter it into the 2010 Nez Perce Co Fair where I got 1st place. This pattern was in a magazine and I was nervous about trying a magazine pattern but I did it. The first picture was the before applique. The second picture was with the applique ironed on and a picture of the final quilt. This is Benartex, Star of Wonder fabric. Sandwiched with Warm and Bright poly batting by the Warm Company.

26th Quilt

I made this quilt a few months ago and it is out of order in the process of my quilting but that is ok. I do not want to go back and change the order of things here on my blog. This is a charity quilt and the top is all flannel. The back looks like denim with pockets all over it. It is sandwiched and machine quilted. I did a straight stitch straight across this up and down, left and right with all different colors of thread. There are raw edges in the quilt blocks and it will fray when it is washed and I hope it will look really cool. Raw edges will give it a warm and weathered look and I really like that in a quilt. I am not sure what kind of batting is used in this one. I believe the batting is something that I picked up at a yard sale.

More Practice

I did not make most of the charity quilts but I did do the machine quilting. On this quilt I did an all over design. I followed a pantograph that I have. I like how it turned out. I also like the design that the quilt maker came up with in this quilt top. Oh and this young man posing with the quilt is my shih tzu Chewbacca.

Practice Machine Quilting

I did not piece this quilt but it is a charity quilt that I got to use for practicing my machine quilting with my Pfaff Hobby Grand Quilter. I did shadow quilting as you can see in this close up picture. In the floral blocks I did the same shadow quilting. The yellow blocks have flowers in them and the floral sashing has swirls. I am working on my machine quilting and I have a long way to go to perfection. I have to practice, practice, practice...

My first pillow case

This is for my nephew to go with his quilt that I made for him.

Wow I had to have this quilt...

This is wool, made from felted wool sweaters. I bought it from some ladies at the Red Barn Farms Fall event October 2010. It is wall hanging size and backed with fleece.

Thimbleberries

I bought this quilt on ebay, it is a Thimbleberries Quilters Garden block of the month that is all hand pieced. Not hand pieced by me though. It needs some reinforcing and I hope to use it to practice my hand quilting as well. I do not know if I will add any borders yet.

25th Quilt

Part of the same Dinosaur Uproar panel from one of the previous quilt tops that I made. I feel weird calling this one a quilt since it is just a panel with a border but hey I sewed it and it will eventually be a wall hanging that will be quilted. I bought a lot of this fabric a couple years ago and never did use it up so I went on a mission to sew it up and get it out of my stash.

24th Quilt

Dinosaur Uproar charm squares, 4 patch. This one is lap size.

23rd Quilt

Dinosaur Uproar by Moda. Quilt panel in the middle and then I bordered it with left overs from the first dinosaur quilt that I made.

22nd Quilt

This is more of the fabric left from the previous quilt that I made for the benefit. I decided to make another one with the same fabrics.

21st Quilt

benefit quilt for a friend's auction. Made $75 for the family

Sandwiched and machine quilted by me. Used Warm and Bright batting by The Warm Company.

20th Quilt

Log Cabin for our trailer. Used Moda fabric and quilt top is not complete yet.

19th Quilt

Pastel Skill Builder that I decided to make a bit larger than the first one. I decided to take this panel to a local quilt shop and picked out two fabrics that I thought were perfect for borders and a quilt back with the same pastel colors. With the fabric I have added 2 borders and it is throw size instead of lap size. Well adding borders to this panel was a learning curve for me. I measured this so that I could use every last scrap as border fabric and I did not have enough of the green for one corner. I have contacted the shop where I got the fabric and they sent what they thought I needed which was not the right green. I will go visit their shop soon to see if they have a little piece of the fabric that I need. Will share a picture after it is sandwiched and machine quilted.

18th Quilt

This is the quilt that I made for my secret sister's revelation gift May 2010. It is done with charm squares and I appliqued the flowers onto the quilt top and sandwiched it I believe with The Warm Company Warm and Bright poly batting. The size is about 30x30.

17th Quilt

April table topper quilt kit that I bought at my favorite local quilt shop. The pattern is April Table Topper. I put this topper together different than the pattern called for because I do not like fabric waste. I still need to add applique flowers of some sort and sandwich it to machine quilt.

16th Quilt

This is another Quilt of Valor top that I pieced. It is a little different than the first one that I made. This one has more solid blocks that are not pieced with the strips. I have not sandwiched and machine quilted these. A lady in the quilt guild offered to machine quilt them so I let her do it because I was nervous that I might mess them up. Not quite as confident as I would like to be yet.

15th Quilt

I was at Clarkston High School for the Guild quilt show in 2009 and in the back corner was a booth for Quilts of Valor. She asked me if I knew what Quilts of Valor was and I told her that I thought so. I shared with her that my son was in the Marines and she asked if she could present him with a quilt and I was about in tears at the thought that they would honor my son. He was presented with his quilt when he was home on leave Spring of 2009. I decided that I would like to give back to Quilts of Valor quilt and make some quilts that would be given to honor other military personnel, active or retired. I made this quilt after Pat Sloan presented us with a challenge. This is the top on the design wall and not pieced together yet. I added the pieced top but I realized that when I finally sewed all the blocks together they are sewed different than I have it on my design wall. That was the fun part about doing this quilt. I could move the blocks and it totally changed the look of the quilt top. I am pleased with it.

14th Quilt

Well this is not a pieced quilt top but there are many hours that went into this quilt top. It is a cheater panel, a Skill Builder that I did in a class to learn how to machine quilt on my domestic sewing machine. The class was in in a quilt store in the spring of 2010. This is sandwiched with Hobbs 80/20 batting and the whole crib size quilt is complete September 2010. I could not decide what to do with this quilt and when I got invited to a friends daughters birthday party I knew this would be the perfect gift for her. October 2010.

13th Quilt

I had not been quilting for very long when I saw this quilt made by The Crazy Quilter in Deary, Idaho at the Moscow quilt show. Their fabrics were different but it was the same pattern as this one. I had to have it so when I visited their shop at the next shop hop I could not wait to get one to do for myself. I purchased this quilt kit at one of my favorite quilt shops. It was a lot of fun to arrange and piece. I love this top because it is my favorite color. I arranged the squares and zig zagged around each of the blocks and sewed them in stacks like I arranged them. Next the blocks are cut in 4 and rearranged and sewed back together in a 4 patch. I have not sandwiched it and machine quilted it as of yet.

Finally... July 7th 2011 I finally went to Emerald Garden and machine quilted this quilt. It is sandwiched with Warm and White 100% cotton batting and I did an all over pantograph on it with I believe Signature green thread on top and blue on the bottom. You would not know it unless you were looking for it but the pantograph is messed up on this quilt and it frustrates me. At one point the quilt was not rolled up and I was sewing over the top of the previous row of stitching. I have to take a deep breath and just leave it, not going to pick it out I don't think. I am at least practicing my long arm skills and getting to be quite comfortable doing pantographs.

12th quilt that I made just for me...

I love these fabrics... Return to Romance from Maywood Studios. I purchesed this kit at The Crazy Quilter in Deary, Idaho. This quilt is sandwiched with Bamboo batting and was machine quilted by me using pantographs and Aurifil thread. I entered this quilt in the NPC Fair in 2009 and received a third place ribbon for my machine quilting.

11th Quilt

Here are more blocks that I received when I went to the open house at Emerald Garden December 2008. I also purchased the border fabrics at Emerald Garden. This quilt is for my daughter and is not yet machine quilted as of January 2010. This wall hanging will be sandwiched with Warm and Natural batting and machine quilted on my Pfaff shortarm quilting machine.

10th Quilt

I got the fabric center blocks at Emeral Garden December 2008 when I went with my sister in law to their winter open house and sale. I was a new quilter at the time and did not know what to do with these blocks at first. After much thought I decided to do the same pattern as my other heart quilt. The border plad fabric I found at Jo-Anns after I finished the center 9 blocks. This quilt is for my son Kevin. I machine quilted this on my domestic sewing machine. I used Soft and Bright batting. I entered this quilt in the NPC Fair in 2009 where I received a second place ribbon.

I think these are my 8th and 9th quilts

My sister in law had this pattern by Pat Sloan and I fell in love with it so I had to make it. I made 2 with the flowers opposite of each other. The fabric is from Emerald Gardens in Lewiston. One of these is completed and was entered in the NPC Fair in 2009 where I received a first place ribbon. Used Warm and Natural batting.
