I was at Clarkston High School for the Guild quilt show in 2009 and in the back corner was a booth for Quilts of Valor. She asked me if I knew what Quilts of Valor was and I told her that I thought so. I shared with her that my son was in the Marines and she asked if she could present him with a quilt and I was about in tears at the thought that they would honor my son. He was presented with his quilt when he was home on leave Spring of 2009. I decided that I would like to give back to Quilts of Valor quilt and make some quilts that would be given to honor other military personnel, active or retired. I made this quilt after Pat Sloan presented us with a challenge. This is the top on the design wall and not pieced together yet. I added the pieced top but I realized that when I finally sewed all the blocks together they are sewed different than I have it on my design wall. That was the fun part about doing this quilt. I could move the blocks and it totally changed the look of the quilt top. I am pleased with it.
